Downey is a multidisciplinary interior design studio, founded and led by the firm's principal, Alison Downey.  Ms. Downey led the interior design program at global luxury furnishings brand, RH, and prior to that she was a senior designer for AD100 design firm, Jennifer Post.  Since its inception, Downey has completed an extensive portfolio of diverse and complex projects globally, providing interior and exterior design services for ground-up new construction, renovation projects, and interior decoration services for existing spaces.  

We recognize the many components that combine for a successful project, which include a respect for the integrity of a home's original architecture and an in-depth understanding of the client's tastes and desires. We believe that one's style, lifestyle, travels, and interests can be expressed through interior design, just as it can be through fashion and other creative expressions.  

We bring a studied eye to every project, to determine how a home's location, architectural style, light sources and layout will lay a foundation for the design direction.  We then formulate a design plan to achieve fluidity throughout the home as to color palette, use of finishes, space planning, and decoration.

The spaces we create are characterized by nuanced textures, quality materials, and an effortless, fluid style deeply rooted in the principles of classical design and architecture. The goal is to achieve a timeless, beautiful interior that reflects its inhabitants and enhances enjoyment of their home and lifestyle.
