About me
I have been involved in sponsorship valuation, negotiation, and activation for over twenty-five years. In 2016, I wrote “Motorsports Marketing and Sponsorships,” racing’s #1 bestseller on the business and strategy of sponsorship.
From 1998 to 2003, I was the founder & CEO of Bokasmo & Co, a bricks & mortar skate shop that developed an online merchandising portal for skateboarding brands and sponsored several action sports athletes, including Tony Alva.
After divesting Bokasmo, I became president & CEO of Osiris Shoes, and sponsored athletes in skateboarding, surfing, motocross, freestyle MX, and BMX.
In 2005, I was recruited by an old friend to join Championship Off Road Racing (CORR), to help the series and its teams attract non-endemic action sports partners and sponsors, including Monster Energy.
Following the economic crash of 2008, CORR’s teams and rule book were absorbed into The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, which was part of Team Lucas, the motorsports marketing arm of Lucas Oil. At the time, Team Lucas owned and operated eight different racing series, put on over 400 annual events (short course off-road, dirt late model, Modifieds, sprint cars, drag boats, Lucas Oil Speedway, and Pro Pulling) and produced 200+ hours of television for Speed Channel, NBC Sports, CBS, CBS Sports Network, and MAVTV.
I was the Director of Sales & Marketing for Team Lucas and sold sponsorships until I left in 2019, when I began hosting virtual sponsorship webinars and summits to help athletes understand why brand sponsor, what they seek from representation, and how to get sponsored by them.
Sponsorship coaching is now my full-time occupation through SponsorshipSummits.com virtual summits, Meet The Sponsors podcasts, and in-person seminars, including PRI’s annual Educational Seminar in Indianapolis.
