Joe has more than 30 years of experience in start up and growth technology leadership globally covering stints in Silicon Valley, New York, Asia, and Europe, from early stage through to IPO including two exists to leading global digital platforms.
Joe served as the CEO of Issuu for over 11 years, leading the company to a successful 9 figure exit.
During his tenure at Issuu, the company:
-served over 1 million creators, marketers and publishers and over a billion consumers per year
-dramatically expanded the product offering
-increased revenue by 8x
-reached sustainable and continually increasing profitability
-built integrated partnerships w/ leaders in the industry including Canva, Adobe, Hubspot
-expanded operations to include global offices in Palo Alto, Copenhagen, Berlin and Braga
-grew to more than 150 employees
-expanded the PLG offering and introduced an enterprise offering
Joe is a frequent thought and industry leadership contributor to the likes of Inc., Entrepreneur Magazine, Forbes, Fortune, Recode, Techcrunch, CNBC, FoxBusiness, Bloomberg, has spoken at conferences and events globally including Web Summit, Founders Forum, Canva Extend, Adobe Max, Horasis Summit, SaaS Open, SaaStr, The Wrap's Grill Summit, The Issuu Generator's Summit among others and been featured on podcasts including TechTalks Daily, Association of National Advertisers, Advertising Week, Marketing Guys, Digital CXO and others.
He has been the CEO, led sales, BD and Product for some of the leading and most innovative companies in Silicon Valley, backed by the likes of Benchmark, Redpoint, Trinity, Floodgate, True, Baseline, MDV, DAG, Sony, Time Warner among others. He has spearheaded business models that have created some of the best brand and consumer engagement on the web.
Prior to Issuu he served as CEO of Wordnik/Reverb, an early stage NLP driven content recommendation engine.
Prior to Wordnik, Joe served as interim CEO of SingleFeed, a profitable e-commerce feed optimization product. SingleFeed was funded by True Ventures, and under Joe's direction, was successfully sold to Ali Baba.
In 2010, Joe completed a role as EIR with Trinity Ventures, focusing on next generation social commerce, community, crowdsourcing and social media.
Before Trinity, Joe held roles that included: SVP of Sales and BD at Gaia Online, BD for Multimedia Search & Flickr at Yahoo!, VP, Strategic Accounts and Asia Pacific at publicly listed company, Virage Inc, a provider of video search and publishing software, Sina.com(creator of Weibo) and The Economist Group
