Rod Chong, is Los Angeles based Creative Director at the Race Service Agency on a mission to help creatives start and maintain their careers.
Recognized as a car culture icon and an innovator, Rod has a rich background in racing games, music videos, digital media, and brand partnerships. After stints in LA and London directing music videos, he landed a role at Electronic Arts in 2006, where he infused the Need for Speed franchise with urban and car culture elements for over eight years.
In 2008, Rod founded Speedhunters.com, the first internet-focused international automotive media brand, connecting car culture, motorsports fandom, and gaming enthusiasts through a pioneering blend of digital content and community engagement. His innovative spirit continued to thrive as he became the Chief Commercial Officer for the Project CARS2 simulation game franchise. Here, Rod forged partnerships with esteemed automotive brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, and Nissan, enhancing the franchise's credibility and appeal.
Rod's venture into the world of autonomous racing saw him become the Deputy CEO at Roborace in 2017, where he significantly contributed to the company's vision and programming. By 2019, he assumed the role of Chief Creative Officer at Race Service, an LA-based automotive creative agency, steering projects for international brands like Hot Wheels, ASUS Republic of Gamers, McLaren Automotive, Samsung, and Fanatec. Beyond gaming and automotive, Rod has cultivated partnerships in fashion and music, collaborating with the Berlin-based apparel label Acronym and creating music videos for progressive bands like Animals as Leaders and Periphery.
Rod's recent work includes helping to lead a groundbreaking collaboration between ACRONYM® and Republic of Gamers (ROG), resulting in the creation of two revolutionary computing devices: the RMT01 and the ROG FLOW Z13-ACRNM RMT02. This partnership has set new standards in the integration of fashion, creativity, and design, showcasing Rod's foresight in pioneering projects that push the boundaries of innovation while embracing cutting-edge technology.
My mission is to help creatives choose a discipline and build to full time creative career. This knowledge base is for people who are considering studying a creative, art or design discipline, or who are taking their first steps into the professional world. I also aim to help those whose are trying to level up or pivot their careers into a new directions.
