Global TV Exec | Behavioral Scientist | IP Expert | Head of Content Development @ Guardian x Sony

About me

I currently serve as Head of Global Development for Sony Pictures Entertainment x Guardian News & Media, where I lead a first-of-its-kind creative IP partnership across all Sony divisions and award winning affiliated companies worldwide. My focus is developing culturally resonant, globally scalable scripted film and television— sourcing from journalism, investigative reporting, legacy features, and underexplored historical archives. Previously a Development and Current Series Executive at Amazon MGM Studios, where I shaped an international scripted slate with standout global tentpoles including “Reacher”, “Nine Perfect Strangers”, “Carnival Row”, “The Wilds”, “The Outlaws”, “A Very Royal Scandal”, and “The Power” etc. Projects achieved major viewership milestones and BAFTA, Emmy, and Academy award nominations and wins. Earlier in my career, I worked at The Gotham Group, a production management company which produced franchises such as “Maze Runner”, “Percy Jackson”, “The Spider-wick Chronicles”; and represents top-tier creators and packages IP across film, television, and publishing. Experience that continues to inform my approach to adaptation, publishing and talent relationships, as well as long-term multi-format franchise building. With formal training in behavioral science, supported by peer-reviewed academic publications, alongside advanced study and application in screenwriting, I bring a psychologically informed lens to creative decision making. I specialize in understanding how narrative, character, and world building shape emotional engagement, memory, and audience attachment— helping creators build stories that emotionally land with global audiences. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best creative and commercial minds in the industry. I am passionate about supporting writers, producers, and execs — whether it’s navigating the system, clarifying creative vision, or building long-term strategy. Things Tara can help with: ✔️ Personalized advice across scripted development (U.S., UK, and globally) from concept to script. ✔️ Adaptation strategy for books, journalism & historical IP ✔️ Building development pipelines & cross-border partnerships ✔️ Pitch strategy, packaging & writer support ✔️ Communicating creative vision to stakeholders ✔️ Team leadership & navigating studio/network culture ✔️ Mentorship for creative professionals at all levels
